About the Project

Throughout this project, we explored the topic of air medical transport with a primary focus on the United States. During the preliminary research stage, we found that there are a variety of mainstream media examples that cover some aspects of air medical transport, but not in a holistic way.

Our project was guided by three central questions that helped further our research and understanding of this topic. However, our questions changed over the course of the project.

The series of questions we began with included, how are air ambulances and their services funded? The second asked, what is the role of the United States military in the development of civilian air ambulances? Lastly, we wanted to discuss the humanity of the position by asking, what compels someone to become involved in emergency medical response?

However, the questions that more accurately reflect our project at this final stage include, how are air ambulances funded? Who is involved? How can the industry be understood from the point of view of a patient?

Overall, we wanted to highlight a crucial facet of the healthcare system in a way that was accessible for everyone.
